What's Light Got To Do With It? Thoughts on Mood, Dignity and Magical Thinking

 

Linnaea Tillett founded her firm, Tillett Lighting Design, 32 years ago, and has become one of the most respected, creative and thoughtful practitioners of the art of lighting design today. She holds a doctorate in environmental psychology and her innovative approach incorporates a thorough understanding of the perceptual, behavioral and psychological effects of light. As a designer and public artist who brings a unique background to a technically complex field, Dr. Tillett has extensive experience crafting highly nuanced lighting programs for landscape and the built environment.

She has forged multi-project collaborations with leading architects and landscape architects, including Maya Lin, Paula Hayes, Kiki Smith, Michael Van Valkenburgh, Toshiko Mori, Gustafson Guthrie Nichol, Sasaki Associates, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Olin Studio, and Land Collective.
