Nicholas Fiori

Nicholas Fiori is the 2019-2020 GIDEST program assistant.

 

NICHOLAS FIORI is a Ph.D. candidate in Politics and a former GIDEST fellow. He is serving as the 2019-2020 GIDEST program assistant.

Nick works on the imbrication of race and technology, investigating how whiteness is carried in the meeting(s) of matter, energy, and information with Western science.

He completing his dissertation—The Mechanics of Whiteness: Energy, Race, and a Prehistory of the Algorithm—which traces the productive regime of the slave plantation through the development of thermodynamics and the making of technological capitalism from early nineteenth and the mid-twentieth century.
